PSHE makes a significant contribution to the development of life skills and plays a major role in equipping young people to be more personally effective, healthy and responsible in society. The teaching of PSHE can encourage not only positive attributes to society but also a greater participation in the community and democratic process.
The PSHE programme will make a significant contribution to the development of important life skills. It will enable pupils to acquire the skills and confidence to take more responsibility for their learning, their personal health choices and, in partnership with other departments, their eventual occupational choices.
We follow the ‘Jigsaw’ programme which is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work, aiming to prepare children for life, helping them really know and value who they truly are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.
Jigsaw’s emphasis on positive relationship with self and others and its underpinnings in mindfulness philosophy and practice, add to the ethos and culture of our academy as well as providing an effective and comprehensive PSHE Programme that fulfils the 2020 statutory guidance.
