Creating a CV (Curriculum vitae)

What is a CV and why is it important?

A CV (curriculum vitae), is a document used when applying for jobs. It allows you to summarise your education, skills and experience; enabling you to successfully sell yourself to employers.

A CV is far more than just the qualifications that you have gained, it is an opportunity to summarise what makes you special. Have you done voluntary work? Have you had responsibility in school where you may have represented the school in your local community or at major events such as sporting events?

Everything you can include in your CV gives future employers an idea of you as a person and your potential as an employee. The more that you do during your school career in terms of enrichment and voluntary work, the better your CV will be in the future.

Creating a CV is also useful to help you write your personal statement for applications onto further education and /or training at 16+.
