Radio City Talk - School of the Week
We welcomed the invitation from Radio City Talk, to celebrate The De La Salle Academy as their "School of the Week". This gave our Principal, Mr David Hayes, the opportunity to talk about the amazing things that are happening in the Academy.
Firstly, the rising numbers in the Academy are celebrated for this year, with an expected 15-20% growth next year. Mr Hayes emphasised his desire for all students to have high aspirations stemming from everything we do in the Academy with a focus on "inspiring people; breaking boundaries".
Mr Hayes also outlined the House system we have in place, which encourages students of all ages to work in partnership across year groups, with enrichment events, gaining achievement points and culminating in our summer sports day and other celebratory events.
One of the things that Mr Hayes was keen to highlight was the Academy's participation in the Visitor Economy which is a growth sector in the City of Liverpool. At our Academy we are delighted to host Visitor Economy Week for our students from the 4th to 8th February 2019. This will involve ambassadors from industry coming to speak to our students about opportunities in all business sectors involved in the Visitor Economy. This opportunity is particularly significant in that on the school premises we have a student hotel, accessed by schools around the world. However, we are currently working in partnership with the Titanic Hotel and other professional bodies to develop a fully functioning hospitality and catering training hotel.
